The good news is that our next seasonal, Event Horizon is available for samples and growler fills. It’s a Cascadian Dark Ale or a Dark IPA whatever you want to call it. It is very highly hopped, dark brown in color and has an amazing aroma. 6.5%.

We are usually doing tastings and SALES (woot!) of HopArt IPA, 32/50 Kolsch and whatever seasonal of the moment. Which right now means the Boy King Double IPA. The Boy King is growler fills only, bottles and growlers of the ipa and kolsch. It is so nice to finally receive real cash money for all the hard work we put into our beer. SO thanks for everyone who has come out to the brewery, we so appreciate your business.

We wanted to let folks know that we are not currently using biodiesel due to supply issues. The plant I used to work at has been shut down and we were getting it from a few other sources but it is currently unavailable. We are going to take advantage of the warm summer months to install the waste vegetable oil system for the boiler. It might take a month to get it up and running and in the mean time we will be using #2 diesel unfortunately. Just wanted to be up front about all that. Cheers!

It was exciting for us to give tours and show off our “no frills” brewery I lost my voice after talking to the 200 or so people but it was great to be able to share the beer we worked so hard on and get immediate feedback.

We still do have a few cases left and they will be available during tour hours until they’re gone. Thursdays 4-7 and Saturdays 11-2.

One more thanks goes to the boys at the Charleston Beer Exchange for helping us out on this release. We’ve got a pretty amazing little beer community going on here in Charleston.

We’re finally ready to release the 2010 barrel aged Blackbeerd! This years vintage was aged for almost 7 months in Buffalo Trace barrels. It will be available for sample as well as purchase next Saturday, June 19. Starting on tomorrows Saturday tour hours (11-2), we will be handing out bracelets. Each group of bracelets will be for a designated time, starting at 830 am (trying to avoid the heat of the day). Each person can pick up 2 bracelets. After the groups of bracelets are picked up, the rest of the time will open up to the general public who didn’t get bracelets. We are doing it this way for several reasons: avoid mass hysteria, long lines, utter chaos and all that.

So, the first group of bracelets tour time will start at 830, the next group at 9a, etc… I don’t know how many people to expect to get bracelets but I would guess the Open tour time would be around 10ish. We have not determined a bottle limit but it will be at least 4 per person. Bottles are $15 each (plus tax) and we can accept cash only at this time. I am not really expecting to sell out during this time so any bottles left will be available at the following Thursday tour times. Check here for updates on times and bottle limits. Let’s hope this stream lines the process and is fair to all.

Bracelets are available Saturday 11-2 and Thursday from 4-7- tour hours for the week.

Cheers!

Will begin this Saturday, June 12th. 11-2. I am aiming for tours at every half hour (11, 1130, 12, 1230 etc.) Beer will be available for purchase in growler and bottle form depending on the beer. If it goes well, I will expand hours and if it doesn’t, I’ll cut the hours some.

Follow me on twitter for what’s on tap @COASTbrewing

A few points to remember (again):

*We are a working brewery (=messy!). We currently don’t have any employees so are stretched a bit thin.

*Please stick to scheduled times (as changing as they may be). We are usually unable to stop what we are doing to give a tour.

*It’s H.O.T. in the brewery. There’s no way around it, so be prepared for that. If this works out we’ll look at adding an air-conditioned/ or otherwise cooled area but for now, expect heat. Beer is always cold though.

* We can sell up to one case (288 oz.)/per person/per day. This includes:

12-22 ounce bottles

24-12 ounce bottles

4- Growlers

*CASH only, we are unable to accept credit cards at this time.

* It is law that we price our beer approximate to prices at retail stores.

*Valid ID required.

* Did I mention it’s hot in the brewery?
