So I really debated posting this but since we have lots of friends here many of whom enjoy riding their bikes…..and it really doesn’t have much to do with beer directly. Anyways, last night- after a 15 hour brew day- David left on his bike from the brewery around 9pm. We’ve been down to 1 car for the last few months so many times he makes the 24 mile roundtrip bike ride from the old navy base to our home in Mt. Pleasant. Coming down the bridge into Mt. P, as he often does since it’s the only real fun part of the ride, he “slalom skied” on his bike. Apparently, the Mt. Pleasant PD didn’t like that. 2 undercover vehicles (one a large truck which cut him off) pulled him over. They said he was all over the road- on his bike. Ok, fine, as police I suppose you should check in with the guy and make sure everything is fine. They then proceeded to interrogate him with 120 questions. Where you going? Where to you work? Who do you live with? Where you going again? and then asked him the same questions a few times. Ran his license- fine. Pat down- twice and fine again. Kept asking the same questions. Actually told him he shouldn’t be riding his bike and needed to get his car fixed. Wait…what? Whose business is it if I ride my bike to work or not? While I understand the police are doing their job, we certainly appreciate it under normal circumstances. But after running his license, the pat down and a few questions they should have realized pretty quickly that there was no problem. And to top it all off, he went to shake their hand after all this and they refused and backed up. David, with his southern upbringing of good manners, was offended at this point. They let him go and he rode on home, on a bike he apparently shouldn’t be riding. He’ll be working well over 60 hours again this week and will probably ride that bike a few times and probably have some fun coming down the side of the bridge …. a crime? I’d love to know what the real story is here…… it just shouldn’t have happened like this.

The always anticipated Rye Knot Brown shipped out this week and should make appearances around town now. Lots of chocolate rye malt make for such an interesting take on a rye and a brown. Spicy, roasty and silky sums it up. Quintessential fall beer in my humble opinion.
Now for the bad news: Someone forgot to get more labels printed
As you know there is only 2 of us to run this whole dern brewery and between mopping floors and brewing beer, we sometimes miss stuff. In this case, I missed the label boat. I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often to be honest! We are attempting to print just a few cases at home since I promised everyone it would be in bottles. They won’t be pretty at all, will probably run some…but hey, it’s what’s IN the bottle that counts right???
That being said, growlers and bottles (if it works) will be available starting today during tasting hours: Thursdays 4-7 and Saturdays 11-2.

PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE NO TASTINGS THIS SATURDAY THE 18TH…….WE’LL BE AT THE BREWGRASS FESTIVAL IN ASHEVILLE.
Tours and Tastings are going well, we are hoping to add another day soon.
Event Horizon, our cascadian dark ale, is flying out the door. Super hoppy with a wide range of hop varietals but dark in appearance. Really just an awesome brew. It is going a little faster then we had planned so there looks to be a delay before the next seasonal, Rye Knot Brown, comes out in October.
The current batch and all bottles dated 9/7/10 of 32/50 Kolsch are FILTERED. The previous several months have all been unfiltered. Good to change it up sometimes to see the differences.
“Our List” Podcase recently interviewed us on their Beer and Wings episode. That was fun, listen here.
Other big news is that a new 30 bbl tank is due to arrive in October. More details on that soon. Cheers!

Regular tour hours 11-2 this Saturday. 32/50 Kolsch, HopArt IPA and Event Horizon Cascadian Dark Ale will be on tap for samples and sales. As always you can get up to date info on Twitter and Facebook.

Bad news first: We are completely out of bottles of HopArt and 32/50 Kolsch. We will be bottling next week though.
The good news is that our next seasonal, Event Horizon is available for samples and growler fills. It’s a Cascadian Dark Ale or a Dark IPA whatever you want to call it. It is very highly hopped, dark brown in color and has an amazing aroma. 6.5%.

Tours are going quite well. Despite the heat, lack of a real bar, and no employees. I think folks have been happy with our little tour and tastings. Thursdays 4-7 and Saturdays 11-2 for the time being.
We are usually doing tastings and SALES (woot!) of HopArt IPA, 32/50 Kolsch and whatever seasonal of the moment. Which right now means the Boy King Double IPA. The Boy King is growler fills only, bottles and growlers of the ipa and kolsch. It is so nice to finally receive real cash money for all the hard work we put into our beer. SO thanks for everyone who has come out to the brewery, we so appreciate your business.
